Art Deco Travel Postcards
As
part of our
2003 Holiday Gift, we designed a set of six postcards with
an “Art Deco Cruise to Cuba” theme.
They were package in a cigar box decorated as luggage — with buckled
strapping and custom
miniature hotel and cruise line
labels
from the ’30s.
Copywriting assistance from Douglas
Jackson Creative Resources captured the warm-weather vacation theme:
“A jazzy hat in hand, you stroll along the deck admiring a seemingly limitless
horizon — and feel your senses opening to the adventure like the petals
of a flower to the sun...”
Notecards,
mugs and tote bags of three images from this postcard series are available
for purchase at CafePress.
As
a result of this promotion, we had the opportunity to redesign the 48-page
annual of the Art Deco Society of California, The Sophisticate,
in
the style
of
period
magazine. More
details available from the Society’s site and Journals featuring
cover art from the '04 magazine available on our Cafepress site (sales benefit
the Art Deco Society).
More Art Deco items, including giftwrap, greeting cards
and rubber stamps are available on our sister site, Alpha
Stamps.

Our
previous year’s
holiday gift — a custom deck of playing
cards that highlights four historical
eras important in the development of typography — is
also
available for purchase.
